Throwback Thursday Game Night @ Sharky’s Place (Raleigh)
February 23 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Come on out to Sharky’s Place in Raleigh from 7pm to 10pm for Throwback Thursday Game Night! We feature your favorite throwback games from your childhood like Hungry, Hungry Hippos, Mall Madness, Mousetrap and tons more!
In addition to access to TriangleGameNight.com’s giant board game collection totaling over 75 games, you will also have free reign to enjoy the following awesome-ness: legit pool tables, 2 complete cornhole sets, a Giant Jenga set, and Sharky’s impressive giant Connect4 set.
You are welcome to arrive early to hang out, play some pool or darts and eat before Game Night officially begins. Following Game Night, starting at 10pm guests start gearing up for Karaoke! Don’t feel like singing? No worries, stick around after game night ends and play a game of pool while watching others sing their hearts (or lungs) out!
This event is free admission but we do ask for a $1 donation toward our board game fund when you arrive (it helps us buy and maintain all those games). Just pop the dollar in the Board Game Fund Box when you arrive.
Please note that we typically have a turnout of 30-50 people for this event, so we often have a very big crowd.
Frequently Asked Questions
How Does This Event Work?
You will arrive to the event and check-in with Dara, your Game Night host (look for the girl wearing the black TriangleGameNight.com shirt). If you can, please make a $1 donation to our board game fund, as that helps us to add more games to the collection every month! After you have checked in, you are welcome to browse the Board Game Collection aka “The Library” and grab a game to play, otherwise walk around and join a game in progress if there’s room. Once you finish playing a game, please return it to the collection then feel free to grab another!
What Games Will Be Available? We bring 75 games on a regular basis. Our total collection in storage is over 300 games (you can click here for a complete list of games in our collection). If there’s anything on that list that you would like to play but do not see it at Game Night, email us and request it and we’ll make sure it’s there for you next week! We add at least one new game to the collection every month, and run demos on a featured game throughout the month.
Can I Request a New Game to be added to the Collection? Yes, absolutely. We often add new games to the collection. We typically choose games with a wide appeal or that are the most requested. Email us your suggestion and we’ll add it to our list. If other members request it as well you might see it at an upcoming game night!
How Can I Sign Up to Play a Demo of a Game?
When you arrive, sign up on our demo sign up sheet. If we reach the minimum number of players needed to start the game, the demo will begin at 8:30pm. You will need to meet your Game Night Host at the check-in table at 8:30pm then he/she will take you to the demo area.
Can I Bring My Own Board Game to Play?
Yes! In fact, the more games the merrier! Also, whatever games you bring, you are welcome to keep playing after 10pm. Just make sure your board games are labeled with your name!
Does Sharky’s Place Serve Alcohol and Food? Yes! You can view a copy of their menu by clicking here. Also, click here to view the specials for the day. Their food and drinks are super yummy and very affordable.
I’m New in Town/Recently Single – Would it be weird if I attend this event alone? Absolutely not! This is a GREAT event for people who are new to meetup, new in town or recently single. It’s a great way to meet new people and super low key!
What is your current Game of the Month? Our current featured Game of the Month is LOVE LETTER which is provided by our Game Night sponsor, Family Legacy Financial Solutions
It’s February so, OF COURSE, our Game of the Month is Love Letter.
It’s a classic 20 minute game that plays 2-4 players. There are only 16 cards in the entire game so it’s easy to learn and teach. With simple mechanics and 9 different editions, (ranging in theme from Munchkin to Batman) this game is the perfect way to introduce friends and coworkers to gaming. We’ll be giving away a copy of the original Love Letter, but your host Dara is always excited to teach her favorite version: Adventure Time Love Letter, as well.
“Love Letter is a game you’ll play now, tomorrow, and years to come. It isn’t just a summer fling. It’s a lifelong romance.” – Board and Savior
